Dr. Richard Klemke and the newly established UCSD Biomarker Discovery and Diagnostic Center seeks a Post Doc in mass spectrometry to implement analytical protein, peptide, and phosphopeptide methods to decipher the signal transduction methods responsible for cell migration, invasion, and cancer metastasis. The candidate’s project will involve executing experimental and analytical approaches to solve important biological questions related to human cancer using HPLC and mass spectrometry (Orbitrap and LTQ-ETD, etc). The candidate will have the opportunity to interact with a wide range of cell biologists, clinical cancer specialists, computational and informatics experts at UCSD and abroad. The position requires the desire to solve crucial biological questions and a strong working knowledge of HPLC and MS operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting. Experience with identification of protein phosphorylation signatures and ETD methods would be beneficial. Managerial and strong communication skills are required. Required Education and Qualifications
·B.S, MS, or Ph.D (Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Pharmaceutics) or equivalent work experience.
·Minimum 4 years employment in quantitative analytical methods with demonstrable experience in protein identification and high-throughput productivity (LC-MS and MS-MS, HPLC).
·Thorough knowledge of MS-MS operation, and experience with basic instrument maintenance and troubleshooting.
·Ability to work independently and collaboratively, identify and execute priorities, multitask different projects, and take initiative.
·Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, and outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
