Dr. Klemke has over 25 years of international research and consulting experience in the life sciences and biopharmaceutical industries. He is the founder of Biosystems Consulting of San Diego (BCS) and Cytonus Therapeutics (https://cytonus.com). BCS is an established consulting service that provides advice on research systems and contract research strategies for preclinical testing of cell therapeutics, biologics, and lead small molecule compounds. BCS consulting services cover all aspects of preclinical development, from the initial scientific evaluation of candidate biologics and small molecule drugs and selection of clinical indications. Dr. Klemke’s services include:
- Assay design and preclinical animal model selection, study design and data interpretation. Contract research services are also available through Dr. Klemke’s laboratory and the University of California.
- Technology assessment and evaluation, research strategy development, evaluation of competitive landscape.
- Data analysis, interpretation, and statistical testing using in house and web-based informatics algorithms and software programs such as BlastPro, PhosphoBlast, Oncomine, Ingenuity, NetworKin,etc
- Lead optimization strategies in small molecule development, protein-based therapeutics, cell-based therapeutics, and nutraceuticals.
- Target product profile development.
- Establishing criteria for preclinical product characterization, purification, formulation, and biomarker development.

Dr. Klemke also has extensive experience in overseeing joint academic and corporate funding opportunities and serves as a liaison for various corporate and university ventures in research in the San Diego area and abroad. He has managed numerous NIH/NSF sponsored SBIR/STTR grants and joint-corporate-university research service contracts. Consulting services in this area include:
